The following tips will ensure your Daikin air conditioner is both comfortable and economical all year round:
* During hot weather, turn your air conditioner on early rather than working it harder once your home warms up.
* Adjust the louvres on split system air conditioners so they disperse air downwards when heating and upwards when cooling.
* Clean the air filter regularly.
* Check the energy star labels on your air conditioner – the more stars, the more energy efficient.

What is a Heat Pump
How a Heat Pump works
Factors to consider
Features
Types of systems
An air conditioner functions on the same principle as a refrigerator. A liquid absorbs heat as it turns into a gas and releases heat as it returns to a liquid state.
An air conditioner removes heat from the air in the space being conditioned and expels it to the outside using the refrigerant as the transfer medium. A liquid refrigerant is pumped through an evaporator coil of tubing – air is passed over the evaporator coil and as it passes the air loses heat to the liquid refrigerant causing the refrigerant to expands as it moves through the coil. The refrigerant changes from a liquid to its gaseous state as it absorbs heat from the air being passed over the coil.
A blower then pushes air over the cooled coil and into the conditioned area. The refrigerant gas, now carrying considerable heat, moves through a compressor and begins the liquefying process. It then moves to a condensor coil located outside the conditioned space, where the compressed gas releases its heat and returns to a liquid state.
1. Condenser coil (hot side heat exchanger)
2. Expansion valve (gas expands, cools and liquifies)
3. Evaporator coil (cold side heat exchanger)
4. Compressor

Pink = Gas at high pressure and reduced temperature
Blue = Liquid at low pressure and greatly reduced temperature
Light Blue = Gas at low pressure and warmer temperature

Is it more efficient to leave heat pumps running continually using a "set-back mode" or turn them off and on when heat is required?
Why does my heat pump stop heating every now and then when it's frosty?
Can a heat pump be made to perform better in frosting conditions?
If my heat pump does not deliver full heat when the temperature is 2°C in Northland how can it work at all further South where it is even colder?
Factors to consider when purchasing a heat pump.
If I go away, can I turn my air conditioner off?
What should I do if I've cleaned my air filter, but the unit's air filter light won't turn off?
How can I save energy when using my Daikin air conditioner?
Should I clean my air filter on a regular basis?
What do I do if my air conditioner won't switch on and the operation light flashes?
When I'm using the heating cycle, my unit emits a white mist from the outdoor units. Is there something wrong with my air conditioner?
It is unwise to pay too much, but it is worse to pay too little. When you pay too much, you lose a little money - that is all. When you pay too little, you sometimes lose everything, because the thing you bought was incapable of doing the thing it was bought to do.
The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot - it can't be done. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.
